I am currently a member of the American Nurses Association, a nursing professional organization in the United States. Being part of a professional nursing organization provides valuable opportunities for networking, continuing education, professional development, and staying informed about changes in healthcare practice and policy. According to the American Nurses Association (2024), membership allows nurses to collaborate with colleagues, advocate for the profession, and contribute to improving patient care and health outcomes.

Regarding civic engagement, I have participated in community health promotion activities, including health education and awareness initiatives. As a nurse, I believe civic engagement is an important way to support the health and well-being of individuals beyond the clinical setting. In the future, I would be interested in becoming more involved in community outreach programs, health fairs, and advocacy efforts that address healthcare access and health disparities. I am also interested in participating in initiatives that promote public health education and encourage healthy lifestyles within underserved communities. Conclusively, both professional organization membership and civic engagement are important because they allow nurses to serve as leaders, advocates, and agents of positive change within both the healthcare system and the broader community.
